IGI Active Living and Health Insight — Instructions for Authors
Please read carefully before submitting your manuscript.
AIMS & SCOPE
Brief Description
IGI Active Living and Health Insight publishes scholarly works in sport and physical education, including (but not limited to): physical education and pedagogy, sport science, exercise and health, sport medicine, sport management, sport nutrition, and sport history. Manuscripts must align with the journal’s aims and scope and contribute to scientific and/or practical development in these fields.
1) Manuscript Types
A. Original Articles
Report theoretical, experimental, or applied research and practical implementations.
Maximum length:
15 pages (including tables, figures, references, and author information).
B. Review Articles
Synthesize evidence on topics of broad interest and are evaluated by the Editor and qualified reviewers.
Maximum length:
20 pages (including tables, figures, and references).
Language
Manuscripts must be written in English.

2) Formatting & Template
2.1 General Information (Originality & Similarity Check)
The manuscript must be an original work, has not been previously published, is not under consideration elsewhere, and will not be submitted to any media during the review process unless formally withdrawn from IGI Active Living and Health Insight. This assertion must be stated in the Statement of Originality. The journal employs similarity screening (e.g.,Turnitin, Ithenticate) to help prevent plagiarism and redundant publication.
2.2 File Format & Basic Layout
  • Accepted file formats: OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect.
  • Spacing & font: single spacing, 12-point font.
  • Placement: tables, figures, and illustrations must appear within the text at appropriate locations (not at the end).
  • Tables & equations: use Word table tool; equations must use an equation editor.
  • Graphics: print-quality images with a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.
3) Manuscript Structure (Required Sections)

Authors & Affiliations Provide complete first and last name for each author. List affiliations on separate lines. Indicate author contributions using codes (A–E). Identify one Corresponding Author with email.

Abstract 150–300 words, structured as:
PurposeMaterials and MethodsResultsConclusions
Keywords: 3–7 keywords.
Introduction Include: contextual framework; critical literature examination; research gaps; rationale; objectives/hypotheses.
Materials and Methods Original Articles: Study participants; study organization (protocol/algorithm); statistical analysis.
Review Articles: Materials for analysis (criteria, sources, databases, search dates + at least one reproducible search protocol); organization of the study (selection & extraction); methods of analysis (processing & synthesis).
Results / Findings Original Articles: Present results systematically (tables/figures). Cite tables in narrative; avoid repeating all data. Report p-values to two decimals (e.g., p = 0.25). Include effect sizes and/or confidence intervals when relevant.
Review Articles: Report number of analyzed studies and extracted attributes with citations; summarize outcomes per study and discuss implications.
Discussion Interpret findings; compare with previous studies; explain implications; acknowledge limitations.
Conclusions Summarize key findings & implications; provide clear closure; highlight significance and potential impact; include author suggestions for future work.
Acknowledgments Acknowledge contributors who do not meet authorship criteria (mentors, partners, institutions, funding bodies, etc.).
Conflict of Interests Disclose financial and non-financial conflicts that could influence the work. Unrelated interests need not be disclosed.
References Use APA Style (7th edition). Ensure names/dates match between in-text citations and reference list; sort alphabetically. Resource: apastyle.apa.org
Author Information Provide a brief author bio (name, email, ORCID, position, affiliation, address, phone).
⚠️ Note: Ethics Statement (Required)
All manuscripts must include an Ethics Statement in the main text (recommended placement: at the end of Materials and Methods).
  • Human participants: state the ethics committee/IRB name and approval number (or justified exemption) and describe informed consent procedures.
  • Minors: include parental/guardian consent and participant assent.
  • Identifiable images/video/audio: confirm explicit consent for recording and consent for publication.
  • Animal studies: state animal ethics approval and compliance with animal welfare regulations.
  • Reviews/bibliometrics/document analysis: state ethical approval was not required (no humans/animals/identifiable private data).

4) Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting, confirm that:
  1. The manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere (or explain in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The manuscript file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.

  3. Where applicable, hyperlinks for references are provided.

  4. Single spacing, 12-point font, and all figures/tables are embedded in-text (not at the end).

  5. Tables are created using the Word table tool; formulas use an equation editor.

  6. All graphics are print-quality with minimum 600 dpi.

  7. The text follows this Author Guidelines and APA 7th edition reference style.

  8. Blind review requirements are followed (if submitting to a peer-reviewed section).

  9. Uploaded files include the manuscript and required supplementary documents (including Statement of Originality)

  10. The manuscript includes an Ethics Approval and Consent to Participate statement (or a justified statement that ethics approval was not required).

  11. The manuscript includes a Consent for Publication statement if identifiable images/video/audio/personal data are used (or states “Not applicable”).

  12. The manuscript includes a Competing Interests statement (declare none or disclose relevant conflicts).

  13. The manuscript includes a Funding statement (include grant details or state no specific funding).

  14. The manuscript includes a Data Availability statement (repository/link, availability on request, or justified restrictions).

  15. All authors approve the submission, the authorship list is final, and any authorship changes will follow the journal’s authorship policy.

5) Online Submission Procedure (OJS)
Submissions are accepted only via the online system:
  • Step 1: Enter submission details → click Save and Continue.
  • Step 2: Upload file (choose Article Text) → Upload FileContinueCompleteSave and Continue.
  • Step 3: Enter metadata: title, abstract, authors, keywords, references (include ORCID, affiliation, and short bio).
  • Step 4: Confirm readiness → click OK.
  • Step 5: Submission complete; the editor will be notified.
6) Author Fees & APC

No submission fee is required.
Article Publication
$50.00
If accepted, authors will receive an invoice via the INSPIREE dashboard. Authors will receive the final PDF.
If you have difficulty paying the fee, please contact the editorial team. We do not want costs to deter good work.

Authors retain rights including copyright/patent rights, reuse in future works, reproduction for own purposes, and non-exclusive distribution with acknowledgment of first publication in IGI Active Living and Health Insight.
9) References Formatting (APA 7th Edition)
References must follow APA 7th edition and be listed alphabetically. Ensure accuracy of author names and years between in-text and reference list. For detailed APA guidance, see the https://apastyle.apa.org/. style resources.
