Peer Review Process
Journal of Foundational Learning and Child Development
───────────────────────
The Journal of Foundational Learning and Child Development implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the integrity, quality, and relevance of every manuscript published. The review procedure is outlined as follows:
1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope, formatting compliance, and basic quality standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned without review.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to ensure objectivity and impartiality.
3. Review Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, methodological rigor, relevance to foundational learning and child development, clarity of presentation, ethical considerations, and contribution to the field. The reviewers may recommend:
-
Accept without revision
-
Minor revision
-
Major revision
-
Reject
4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor makes a final decision. In cases of conflicting reviewer opinions, a third reviewer may be assigned or the editorial board may discuss the manuscript further.
5. Revision and Resubmission
If revisions are required, authors are given a specified period to respond to reviewer comments and resubmit the revised manuscript. Authors must clearly highlight changes and provide a response letter addressing each reviewer’s suggestion.
6. Final Acceptance and Publication
After successful revision and approval, the manuscript proceeds to copyediting, layout formatting, and final proofreading before online publication. Authors will receive a final proof for approval.
7. Review Timeline
The average time from submission to first decision is approximately 4–6 weeks. The overall time to publication may vary depending on the complexity of revisions.
Ethical Compliance
The journal adheres to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines in all aspects of the peer review and publication process.
